A house before it was a brand.
We’re Stephanie, Vanessa and Ilana. Isla Capricho is our grandparents’ island house off the coast of Colombia, where we spent every holiday growing up and where our family still gathers today. The house gave our brand its name and taught us that a table does not need to be perfect to become unforgettable.
The table we grew up around.
There was no real schedule. No plans that couldn’t be abandoned for a longer lunch. The table was always full of food, cousins, and neighbors who stopped by and somehow stayed for hours.
Our grandmother set that table like it mattered. Because it did. The right cloth, the right dishes, not expensive, but chosen. Then she used them without ceremony. Nothing beautiful was kept behind glass.
That is the memory the three of us carried into our own homes. We’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.
We wanted the beauty, without the fuss
When we started building our own homes and tables, we went looking for pieces that felt the way those holidays felt: vibrant, warm, joyful, and completely at ease.
We found plenty of beautiful things: delicate hand-painted ceramics we were terrified to actually use, linen placemats that required dry cleaning after a single dinner party, and pieces that lived in the cabinet because we loved them too much to risk them.
That wasn’t it. We wanted color, craft, and real beauty, but we also wanted to live with it: napkins that could go in the wash after a messy Sunday lunch, plates that could go in the dishwasher without holding our breath, and a gorgeous table for twenty that didn’t become a project.
We couldn’t find that combination anywhere. So we made it.
Made to be used.
The table should be the place you gather, not the thing you protect.
Our grandmother would appreciate this part: everything we make is machine-washable or dishwasher safe.
We know that can sound like a footnote. We think it is the whole point. We designed every piece to go in the wash, come out looking like itself, and be ready for the next gathering.

We made Isla Capricho for the tables we always wanted to set: for lunches that stretch into dinners, for friends who stay later than they planned, and for the ordinary Tuesday that somehow becomes the night everyone remembers.
