Our Story
We're Stephanie, Vanessa and Ilana. We grew up spending every holiday at our grandparents' house on a small island off the coast of Colombia. There was no real schedule. No plans that couldn't be abandoned for a longer lunch. The table was always full of food, of cousins, of neighbors who stopped by and somehow stayed for hours.
Our grandmother set that table like it mattered. Because it did. The right cloth, the right dishes, not expensive but chosen. Each meal felt like an occasion, even when it was just Tuesday.
We've been chasing that feeling ever since.
The Problem With Beautiful Things
When we started building our own homes, our own tables, our own traditions, we went looking for tableware that felt the way those holidays felt. Vibrant. Warm. Joyful.
We found plenty of things that were beautiful. Delicate hand-painted ceramics that we were terrified to actually use. Linen placemats that required dry cleaning after a single dinner party. Pieces that lived in the cabinet instead of on the table because we loved them too much to risk them.
That wasn't it.
We wanted color and craft and real beauty, but we also wanted to actually live with it. To throw the napkins in the wash after a messy Sunday lunch. To stack the plates in the dishwasher without holding our breath. To set a gorgeous table for twenty people without it becoming a project.
We couldn't find that combination anywhere. So we made it.
Made To Be Used
Every piece in the Isla Capricho collection is designed by us, inspired by the colors, textures, and easy beauty of island life, and made by skilled artisans using traditional techniques.
Our grandmother would appreciate this part: everything we make is machine-washable or dishwasher safe.
We know that sounds like a footnote. We think it's the whole point. The most beautiful tablecloth in the world is worthless if you never use it. We designed every single piece to go in the wash, come out looking like itself, and be ready for the next gathering.
Because the table should be the place you gather, not the thing you protect.
Welcome To The Table
We made Isla Capricho for the tables we always wanted to set. For the lunches that stretch into dinners. For the friends who stay later than they planned. For the ordinary Tuesday that somehow becomes the night everyone remembers.
We hope it finds its way to yours.
